16 Jul Adding Video To Your WordPress Blog
It’s a fact: blogging can be a powerful tool for getting found online. Studies have found companies who blog receive 97% more links to their website than those who don’t.
By 2020, it is predicted that customers will manage 80% of their business relationships with a company without talking to a human. So why not use video to ‘speak’ to your clients directly via your blog.
To show you how to embed video to your blog we’ve used WordPress in our demo instructional video above, however there are a large range of free blogging platforms available online. WordPress is one of the most popular however, and it powers 23% of the internet. It’s even powering the article you’re reading now!
Once have logged in to your WordPress account, here’s step-by-step instructions for adding video to WordPress blog posts:
Step 1: In the top right corner of your screen, click the ‘Create a new post’ icon.
Step 2: A draft box will appear where you can add a title for your post. Then click the ‘Add media’ button to insert media to your post.
Step 3: A Media box will appear, allowing you to upload direct from your computer. Click the insert from URL tab, and copy and paste your video’s URL from your video provider site (i.e. Youtube, Vimeo etc).
Step 4: Click insert into post. This will take you back to the draft page where you can continue to write your post. At any time, you can click preview to see what your post will look like.
Step 5: When you are happy with the way your blog post looks, click ‘Publish’ to share it with the world.
Bonus Tip: You can also embed videos to WordPress using most video platform’s supplied embed codes. Simply draft your blog post in ‘Text’ mode, and paste your video’s embed code wherever you’d like it to appear.
